Media Unit

The brief from the client was to build a media unit to house a TV , set top box and room around it to display other items. To be finished in a satin white paint to blend in with the existing paint finish in the property. Following a discussion with the customer and being shown some similar ideas that had been the inspiration, I designed a piece that met the above criteria.

Once I had approval for the project to begin I could begin the manufacturing process, getting as much of the project pre-cut to size in the workshop before taking it to be fitted.

Some panels required scribing to fit around the irregularities in the wall.

This was the end result of my efforts

The customer was also kind enough write the following review;

“” A drawing brought to life”

I found Adam on the Internet and after reading some of his reviews I decided to email to him to see if he would quote for a floor to ceiling TV/ bookshelf unit. He responded straightaway and came to measure up a few days later. He was very attentive to what I wanted and came up with a solution to the issue with my oddly sized walls and left with a drawing that I scribbled together of my must haves. Quote received soon after and job booked in.

Adam was punctual and worked non-stop on the 2 days it took to install. He was also very pleasant and worked away quietly. The end result its better than imagined, my living room has been transformed. A very professional finish indeed. I am extremely happy and will be referring all my family and friends who have any carpentry needs. Hopefully that won’t send as many emails as me. “

Full width wardrobe

Oak effect sliding doors

Four large, full height Oak effect sliding doors create the facade for hiding away all those clothes and other items needing to be stored away out of sight. Sliding behind each other to reveal the customised internal shelves.

Compartments inside wardrobe

The lower sections of square shelving are sized to fit the IKEA boxes. While the upper ones are smaller to accommodate t-shirts and jumpers. To the right, just on the edge of the picture, you can see the start of the slatted shelves which run all the way to the window wall.

wardrobe clothes rails Two clothes hanging rails are installed, one above the other for a his and hers arrangement. Along with a small rail to the right of those for longer garments such as dresses.

The oak architrave that runs along the ceiling and down the walls either side, covers the framing required to create the correct size opening for the doors and hides the track that the doors slide on.

Super Spice rack

If you’re finding that the average spice rack just isn’t big enough for your collection of jars, then you need this version! Made from solid Ash and wall mounted with hidden fixings.

It’s big enough to hold 36 jars, neatly arranged in four rows of nine. Each shelf features a shallow recess, keeping the jars in place ready for use. The jars are available here from https://www.waresofknutsford.co.uk

Bunk bed with desk

Single bunk bed above a desk

The latest project that has been completed is for a small room where a bed from a catalogue wouldn’t be practical. The standard beds available wouldn’t fit along the narrow wall of the room due to the radiator.

Here the specification from the customer was to design and build a bunk bed that was high enough to allow room to sit at a desk underneath.

The solution was to maximise the space available in this small bedroom. Made entirely from pine, it gives a warm natural feel to the furniture rather than being painted. The satin sheen is achieved following two coats of protective hard wax oil, making for a product that will last for years to come. Also the edges and corners of the ladder and desk are rounded off to be much more user friendly while in use.

Upgraded door

A new back door was required to replace an old stable door that was proving draughty during the winter months.

As well as replacing the door and the hardware, ‘Aquamac 21’ seals were added to the frame to keep out the cold. Finally as an extra measure to weather proof the door, an ‘Exitex Lowline’ threshold was installed. This prevents rain being blown under the door and provides a draught seal.
